Which solar system type fits a Philippine home?
Grid-tied solar is usually the simplest choice when the utility grid is dependable and the main goal is daytime bill reduction. It generally cannot power the home during an outage because anti-islanding protection shuts the inverter down.
A hybrid system adds battery controls and selected backup circuits. It can support essential loads during outages, but usable battery capacity, surge requirements, replacement planning, and installation design matter more than the battery nameplate alone.
Off-grid solar is intended for sites without dependable utility access. It requires disciplined load planning, enough storage for poor-weather periods, and often a generator or another backup source. It should not be selected only because complete independence sounds attractive.
